Unit 4 Discussion

Unit 4 Discussion: All About Google I did remember a lot about this unit for one reason and one reason only. It was because I had been using Google's software and apps all throughout high school. I only very recently made to switch to Word when I went to college, which through me for a loop. It was only thanks to the free services provided by the institutions that I was able to use a school account to use Microsoft Office. Anyway... I did end up relearning not just how to use Google Slides, share files, and convert files, but also how much I didn't like using Google to do that too. I was still able to make do, but something about the interface and the design functions just made me irritable. So while I didn't learn anything new, it served as a nice refresher. To add, my least favorite part about this was relearning how to share files, specifically from when you share directly from google drive. I wish everything relevant was just in those three little dots on the side, bu...

The Social Dilemma Discussion

Unit 6: The Social Dilemma Discussion I don't have much of an impression of the film, less because of the implications and more due to prior exposure. To say that I was shocked, horrified, or disgusted would be overkill. It was more of a feeling of "That makes sense" and "I had a feeling it was like that all along". The documentary was fine and well done, the directing was on point, and their reporting and the sense of crisis instilled into the audience were palpable. From beginning to end I didn't have that "A-ha!" moment or "Eureka!" and I suppose that was the most chilling thing. Other than that, my thoughts on the internet, social media platforms, and how I maintain my safety remains the same. The internet has always been a wild place, so the best thing I can do is to protect myself with common sense. Such as: Don't give out personal information. Disengage when uncomfortable. Think before you hit send. Report when you see a probl...
CPLT 1000 Unit 3 Discussion: Well, first things first, oh my god, why did this take so long to do? The answer to that is transcending fatigue, where all of my exhaustion of the past week when this assignment was due carried over into the next and I told myself, oh I can do this again when the other one is due, then it happened again, so I now have another assignment that's due late, so... Honestly, I did it to myself, but that's okay, because I'm here now, so better late than never. Yay? Next, is the actual discussion. I had actually mostly done most of these things already, but it was a great refresher, especially for the netiquette guides and sharing files with others, sending emails, and making labels. I hadn't done something like that since high school for marching band and homework. After that is "cookies", whenever a site asked for them I always refused or ignored it because I didn't know what it did, and now that I do know what these sites are ask...
